Description:

The LTC2979IY is a 16-channel power system manager for fault sequencing, fine-tuning (servo), margin setting, monitoring, providing telemetry, and creating fault logs. The PMBus command supports power sequencing, precision point-of-load voltage regulation, and margin setting. The DAC uses a proprietary software connection algorithm to minimize power interference. The monitoring function includes overvoltage and undervoltage threshold limits for 16 power output channels and 2 power input channels, as well as overtemperature and undertemperature limits. Programmable fault response disables power after a fault is detected (optional retry is provided).

Disabling the power failure can automatically trigger black box EEPROM storage on the fault status and associated telemetry. The internal 16-bit ADC monitors 16 output voltages, 2 input voltages, and bare chip temperature. In addition, odd-numbered channels can be configured to measure voltage on current-sensing registers. A programmable watchdog timer monitors microprocessor activity to detect pauses and resets the microprocessor if necessary. A single-wire bus can synchronize power across multiple ADI Power System management (PSM) devices. Configuration with ECC function EEPROM supports autonomous operation without additional software.
