Overview:

The MAX13487EESA is a + 5V-powered, half-duplex RS-485/ RS-422-compatible transceiver with ±15kV ESD protection, consisting of one driver and one receiver. The MAX13487E is hot-swappable to eliminate fault transients on the bus during power-on or hot-plug.


The MAX13487EESA features Maxim's proprietary automatic direction selection control. This structure makes it ideal for a variety of applications, such as isolated RS-485 ports (in this case, the driver input is used to connect the driver enable signal in order to drive the differential bus). The MAX13487E features a low swing rate driver that reduces reflections caused by EMI and improper cable terminations for error-free data transfer of up to 500kbps.


The MAX13487E has a 1/4 unit load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 128 transceivers to be attached to the bus. This device can be used for half duplex communication. All driver outputs provide ESD protection for ±15kV mannequin models.
