The TMCS1101/TMCS1101-Q1 Precision isolated current sensor is an electrically isolated Hall effect current sensor capable of DC or AC current measurement with high accuracy, excellent linearity and temperature stability. The low-drift, temperature-compensated signal chain has a full scale error of <1.5% over the entire device temperature range. The input current flows through an internal 1.8mΩ conductor, which generates a magnetic field that can be measured by an integrated Hall effect sensor. This structure eliminates the need for an external concentrator, thus simplifying the design. Low conductor resistance minimizes power consumption and heat dissipation. Inherent current insulation provides 600V lifetime operating voltage and 3kVRMS basic isolation between the current path and the circuit. The integrated electrical shielding in Texas Instruments TMCS1101 enables excellent common-mode rejection and transient rejection.

The output voltage is proportional to the input current and has four sensitivity options. The TMCS1101 has a fixed sensitivity, so it can operate on a single supply from 3V to 5.5V, eliminating proportional errors and improving power supply noise suppression. When flowing into the positive input pin, the current polarity is considered positive. Unidirectional and bidirectional sensing models are available. The TMCS1101 has a maximum supply current of 6mA, and all sensitivity models can operate in the rated operating temperature range from -40 °C to +125°C.
