The TMS320F28003x (F28003x) is a device in the C2000™ real-time microcontroller family, a family of scalable, ultra-low latency devices designed to improve the efficiency of power electronics including, but not limited to: high power density, high switching frequency, and support for the use of GaN and SiC technologies.

The real-time control subsystem is based on TI's 32-bit C28x DSP core, which provides 120MHz signal processing performance for floating-point or fixed-point code running from on-chip flash or SRAM. The C28x CPU is further enhanced by a floating-point unit (FPU), trigonometric accelerator (TMU) and VCRC (cyclic redundancy check) extended instruction set, which speeds up key common algorithms for real-time control systems.
The CLA is a standalone 32-bit floating-point mathematical accelerator that executes in parallel with the CPU, allowing a large number of common tasks to be offloaded from the main C28x CPU. In addition, the CLA comes with dedicated storage resources and it provides direct access to the key peripherals required in a typical control system. ANSI C subset support is standard, as are key features such as hardware breakpoints and hardware task switching.
The F28003x supports up to 384KB (192KW) of Flash memory in three 128KB (64KW) memory bodies, supporting parallel programming and execution. Up to 69KB (34.5KW) of on-chip SRAM can also be used to supplement the Flash memory.
Real-time firmware update hardware enhancements on the F28003x allow for fast context switching from old to new firmware to minimise application downtime when updating device firmware.
