Infineon: The backlog of chip orders in the first quarter has reached 37 billion euros
According to reports, Infineons backlog of orders from January to March 2022, including unconfirmed orders, increased by 19.4% to 37 billion euros from 31 billion euros in the fourth quarter of last year.
Recently, according to reports, the chief marketing officer of Infineon, a world-renowned automotive chip maker, said in an interview with the media that the current overall environment is more challenging than last year, consumer confidence is declining, and demand for personal computers, TVs and smartphones is weakening. On the other hand, structural drivers lead to very strong demand for automotive, industrial, renewable energy and smart devices, especially electric vehicles (EV), renewable energy will create new demand for the chip industry.
According to reports, Infineon's backlog of orders from January to March 2022, including unconfirmed orders, increased by 19.4% to 37 billion euros from 31 billion euros in the fourth quarter of last year. The chief marketing officer pointed out that more than 50% of these orders are for automotive-related products, and 75% of the orders will be delivered within the next 12 months. The backlog of orders clearly exceeds Infineon’s delivery capacity. Overall, foundry capacity is still far below overall demand, he said.
