The S912XDT256F1MAL device is based on the 16-bit microcontroller in the HCS12X core, providing current HCS12 microcontroller customers with easy performance upgrades (up to 40MHz) and providing new customers with a powerful and flexible platform for developing complex control systems for industrial applications.

The HCS12X series pioneered the adoption of XGATE modules in the industry. This versatile and efficient coprocessor is designed to handle interrupt events without CPU intervention. XGATE runs from random access memory (RAM) at up to twice the speed of the CPU clock (80MHz), freeing the CPU from the work of executing time-consuming interrupt handlers to focus on the execution of application-related tasks. This powerful combination enables optimal real-time event handling and optimizes system performance.

HCS12X can benefit many applications, including: high-performance printers, instrument control, intelligent sensor filtering in industrial and automotive applications, medical networking, wireless communications, and heating, cooling, and ventilation systems (HVAC).
