RT8894A is a multi-phase PWM controller. Additionally, it is compliant with the AMD SVI2 regulator specification, supporting both the CPU core (VDD) and the North Bridge portion of the CPU (VDDNB). The RT8894A uses Richtek's proprietary G-NAVP TM (Green-Native AVP) topology. G-NAVP makes it a simple setup controller for all AMD AVP (Adaptive Voltage Positioning) requirements. Droop can be easily programmed by setting the DC gain of the error amplifier. With proper compensation, the load transient response can achieve optimized AVP performance. RT8894A uses SVI2 interface to control 8-bit DAC to set output voltage and operating mode, and supports dynamic platform host. An I2C interface is available for advanced power configuration and monitoring. The RT8894A also features programmable power states with different operating phase numbers, overclock offsets, switching frequencies, load lines and protection settings. The platform master can optimize the performance and efficiency of the power supply according to different working scenarios through the I 2 C interface. RT8894A also provides power good indication, over current indication and dual OCP mechanism for AMD SVI2 CPU core and NB. It also has complete fault protection functions, including over-voltage, under-voltage and negative-voltage protection.
