The VCNL4040M3OE integrates a proximity sensor (PS), an ambient light sensor (ALS), and a high-power infrared emitting diode (IRED) in a small package. It integrates the photodiode, amplifier, and analogue-to-digital converter circuitry into a single chip via the CMOS process.The 16-bit, high-resolution ALS has excellent detection capability and plenty of options for most applications, whether they are opaque lens or highly transparent lens designs.Both the ALS and the PS can be set with high and low interrupt thresholds, allowing the components to take up as little microprocessor resources as possible.
