The VCNL4200 proximity and ambient light sensor combines a 940nm infrared emitter (IRED), an ambient light sensor (ALS), and a highly sensitive long-range (up to 1.5m) proximity sensor (PS). The VCNL4200 sensor integrates a photodiode, amplifier, and analogue-to-digital converter circuitry in a single chip through a CMOS process. The sensor features a 16-bit high-resolution ALS with excellent detection capability and a wide range of options to meet the needs of most applications.The ALS and PS functions are implemented in a simple command format via the I2C interface protocol.
