The BCM54382 uses advanced 40nm process node technology to deliver a new, cost-effective switch with low power, high performance and high density for enterprise and data center applications. The BCM54382 is designed to meet QSGMII industry standards. The BCM54382 is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3az High Energy Efficiency Ethernet standard and greatly reduces power consumption during periods of low link utilization.

In addition, with Broadcom's AutogrEEEn technology, the BCM54382 can be in EEE mode when interconnecting with MAC switches that do not support EEE, enabling system designers to take advantage of EEE technology and achieve energy savings. For organizations deploying network equipment using BCM54382 and EEE and AutogrEEEn technology, this energy savings can reduce energy costs. For applications that require precise synchronization of network nodes, such as industrial and power smart grid automation, the BCM54382 supports the 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and is fully compliant with the IEEE 1588-2008 (2nd edition) standard. The BCM54382 integrates IEEE 802.1AE MACsec capabilities to protect communication between nodes in an enterprise network and prevent data breaches.
