The Broadcom AEAT-9955-102 Programmable Angular Magnetic Encoder is an angular magnetic rotary sensor that rotates 360° to provide accurate angle measurements.The AEAT-9955 integrates a Hall sensor element and sophisticated analogue and digital signal processing in a single device. A simple two-pole magnet generates the necessary magnetic field by rotating vertically. Wide magnetic field sensor configurations are available for on-axis (end-of-axis) or off-axis (side-of-axis, axial and radial) modes in applications.

The AEAT-9955-102 is a versatile solution that supports a variety of applications with robust architectures for measuring and transmitting absolute and incremental signals. Absolute angle measurement provides an immediate indication of the angular position of the magnet, with a resolution that can be selected and programmed from 10 to 18 bits. Once selected, the digitally represented position data can be evaluated via standard SSI (parity check) and SPI (with CRC and parity check options) communication protocols. The user can also choose to receive the absolute angular position from the PWM encoded output signal when desired.The ABI and UVW signals indicate incremental position, with a wide range of user-configurable resolutions for the ABI from 1CPR to as high as 20,000CPR, and a UVW commutator signal with pole pairs from 1 to 32 pole pairs (2-64 poles).

The Broadcom AEAT-9955-102 programmable angle magnetic encoder is available in a compact 5mm x 5mm quad flat leadless (QFN) package with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°.
