The AM6421 Sitara™ single-core Arm® Cortex®-A53 MCU is designed for use in industrial applications. These applications include programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and motor drives that require a unique combination of communication and real-time processing with application processing. the AM64x combines two examples of Sitara devices' TSN-enabled gigabit PRU-ICSSG with up to two Arm® Cortex®-A53 cores, up to four Cortex-R5F MCUs and one Cortex-M4F MCU in one package.

The AM6421 has been carefully designed to deliver real-time performance through high performance R5F, configurable SRAM partitioning, tightly coupled memory banks and dedicated low latency paths to and from peripherals for fast data movement to and from the SoC. This deterministic architecture supports the AM64x in handling tight control loops in servo drives. At the same time, peripherals such as FSI, GPMC, PWM, sigma-delta extraction filters and absolute encoder interfaces facilitate the implementation of many different architectures in these systems.
