MediaTek selected Yestechs 5G network simulation solution to complete the RedCap technology validation based on 3GPP 5GRelease 17 standard as well as 5G on its 5G chipset.

December 5, 2022, according to the official news of Yestech, on December 1, 2022, MediaTek selected Yestech's 5G network simulation solution to complete the 3GPP5GRelease17 standard based on its 5G chipset as well as the RedCap technology verification for 5G.

 

According to the presentation, MediaTek successfully established a 5GRel-17 data connection on its Tiangui 5G mobile chip. This cooperation will help MediaTek to accelerate the development of many new features of 5GRel-17, including lower power consumption and enhanced MIMO, among others.

It is understood that as a "lightweight" 5G technology, RedCap continues many of the features of 5G by supporting technologies such as slicing, terminal power saving, coverage enhancement and 5GLAN, which can be introduced on demand for different application scenarios.

 

As a key 5G technology and solution for medium- and high-speed IoT and industrial IoT scenarios, 5GR17RedCap can be used mainly for wearable devices, industrial IoT and video applications.

 

Currently, Huawei, ZTE, ZTE, Vivo, Nokia Bell and Ericsson have all tested and validated RedCap to varying degrees.
