AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D processor to debut next year, will come in 8/12/16-core variants
AMD is developing a 16-core Ryzen 7000 X3D processor in-house, according to a report by Korean media outlet QuasarZone.
On December 3, AMD is developing a 16-core Ryzen 7000 X3D processor in-house, according to a report by Korean media outlet QuasarZone. The report also states that the 3D V-Cache AMD Ryzen CPUs will be available in 8, 12 and 16 core versions, but at a similar clock frequency to the non-X3D processors, i.e. up to 5.7GHz.
At least three sources currently claim that AMD will launch a 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X3D, a 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D and an 8-core Ryzen 7 SKU (possibly the 7700X3D or 7800X3D), without the presence of a 6-core processor with 3D V-Cache support.
According to Wccftech, all three SKUs have a TDP of 170W, meaning that the 8-core CPU will have a higher TDP than the 105W of the 7700X. It is unclear if the upcoming X3D parts will support overclocking like the original SKUs. The AMD Ryzen 7000X3D series is reportedly set to launch in January 2023, which means an official announcement could be made at CES 2023. Pricing should be similar to the non-3D V-Cache models.
