Product Introduction:

The BCM5871X is a family of quad-core 64-bit 2GHz ARM® v8 Cortex-A57 communication processors targeted for a wide range of networking applications, including virtual CPE (vCPE) and NFV devices, 10G service routers and gateways, control plane processing for Ethernet switches, and network attached storage (NAS). The BCM5871x combines advanced computing, networking, and virtualization capabilities on a single SoC, and the industry's first quad-core A57 CPU delivers 34,000 DMIPS at less than 10 watts, providing an unprecedented level of integration and setting new benchmarks in performance and power.


The BCM5871x integrates Broadcom's server-level network interface controller with virtualization, stateless offload, and packet handling capabilities. As a result, the BCM5871X network interface can be shared between various VMS, resulting in increased productivity and bandwidth efficiency. In addition, Broadcom's TruFlow™ packet stream processing technology enables Open vSwitch acceleration via CPU offloading, helping to scale and increase VNF density, in addition to providing flexible software-defined networking (SDN) configuration and policy control.


The BCM5871x SoC supports the YOCTO-compatible Linux Development Kit (LDK) and the pre-integrated Switch Development Kit (SDK) and WiFi drivers. The BCM5871x software includes support for Open source projects and development models (KVM, OpenStack, Open vSwitch, OpenDaylight, DPDK and ODP™).
