20 November 2024 - ON (onsemi, NASDAQ: ON) today announced that it will be the primary supplier of image sensors for Subaru's next-generation EyeSight stereo camera forward sensing system for future models. ON's advanced Hyperlux AR0823AT image sensor will serve as the ‘eyes’ of the system, capturing the critical visual data needed for Subaru's stereo camera artificial intelligence algorithms, enabling the car to make more accurate driving decisions and improve overall vehicle safety.

The Hyperlux AR0823AT features an all-pixel design that captures clear images regardless of lighting conditions, with special controls to ensure that the two sensors of the EyeSight stereo camera capture images simultaneously. This is critical for stereo vision systems that mimic human vision, allowing them to recognise depth and the relative size and distance of objects in the vehicle's path. In addition, the sensor's High Dynamic Range (HDR) captures details of both bright and shadowed areas of a scene to ensure the AI system can make accurate decisions.

The Hyperlux AR0823AT also features functional safety features that meet Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) C standards to ensure the safety and reliability of driver assistance systems. These features proactively monitor the functionality of the sensors, and they can take measures such as resetting the camera or alerting the driver if a malfunction is detected that could affect the accuracy of the system.
