According to a research report by TrendForce today, the fourth quarter is a critical period for the DRAM industry to agree on contract prices, and the prices of DDR4 and LPDDR4X, which have a more mature process, have already declined due to abundant supply and weakening demand.

According to the report, the demand outlook for advanced process products such as DDR5 and LPDDR5X is still unclear, and some buyers and sellers have high inventory levels, so price declines cannot be ruled out by the end of the fourth quarter of this year.


According to Eva Wu, Senior Vice President of Research at TrendForce, TrendForce originally had an optimistic view of DRAM price trends in 2025 due to the three major suppliers' active construction of HBM capacity and the fact that the new plant is not expected to enter the mass production stage until 2026.


However, recent rapid changes in market dynamics have caused TrendForce to adjust its price forecast for next year. DRAM prices will turn down in 2025, with a more pronounced decline in the first half of the year, with DDR4 and LPDDR4X continuing to experience more downward price pressure than DDR5 and LPDDR5X.
