Renesas Electronics (TSE: 6723), a global provider of semiconductor solutions, today announced that it has teamed up with Intel to deliver a power management solution that achieves optimal battery efficiency for notebooks powered by Intel®'s new Core™ Ultra 200V family of processors.

Renesas has worked closely with Intel to develop an innovative customised power management IC (PMIC) that fully meets the power management requirements of the latest generation of Intel processors. This advanced and highly integrated PMIC, together with a pre-regulator and battery charger, provides a one-stop solution for PCs with the new Intel processors. These three new devices work together to provide a tailored and efficient power solution for client laptops, especially those running high power artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Renesas' power management solution comprises the PMIC (note: power management chip) RAA225019, the pre-regulator RAA489301, and the configurable battery charger ISL9241, with the feature set of these three devices optimised for low-power mobile computing applications.

The RAA225019 is a customised PMIC developed by Renesas in close collaboration with Intel, featuring a fully integrated power MOSFET and current sense circuitry to support high switching frequencies, making it ideal for small form factor applications.

The RAA489301 is a 3-Level Buck converter with better thermal performance than traditional 2-Level Buck designs and supports a wide input and output voltage range for excellent efficiency in compact, high power density applications.
