With an output withstand voltage of 900 V, the TLX9150M is suitable for use in 400 V systems.The TLX9150M is also available in the latest SO12L-T package, which is 25% smaller than the TOSHIBA SO16L-T package.

TOSHIBA recently announced the latest launch of an output voltage of 900 V (minimum) on-board optical relay - TLX9150M, using a small SO12L-T package, very suitable for 400 V on-board battery applications. Bulk supply is now available.


Electric vehicles (EVs) require higher capacity, higher voltage batteries to extend range and reduce charging time, and batteries are monitored and managed in real time through battery management systems (BMS) to maximize service life and improve performance. In addition, BMS monitors the insulation between the battery and the body to ensure safety. In BMS where high voltages must be dealt with, optical relays are often used to provide electrical isolation.


The voltage withstand supported by the photorelay for battery systems usually needs to be twice the system voltage, that is, the output voltage withstand of the photorelay for a 400 V system needs to be greater than 800 V. The TLX9150M is designed for 400 V systems with a 900 V output voltage withstand. The TLX9150M also features the latest SO12L-T package, which is 25% smaller than the TOSHIBA SO16L-T package. This improvement not only contributes to the miniaturization of the battery cell, but also reduces the overall cost. At the same time, the pin spacing and pin layout of the package are the same as that of the SO16L-T (as shown in Figure 1), enabling universal circuit board pad design.
