According to DigiTimes, citing the source, the year-to-date shipments of mobile phones from Chinese brand manufacturers have been disappointing, dragging down demand for TDDI chips for mobile phones. Relevant TDDI chip suppliers are under pressure to lower their quotations in the second quarter.
In addition, the sources pointed out that China-based mobile phone makers are looking to adopt OLED displays in more models, which will have a long-term negative impact on the demand and price of TDDI chips.
Display driver IC suppliers including Novatek, Qijing, Tianyu and Sitronix have moved to diversify the target market for their TDDI chip products to include automotive, tablet PCs and other consumer electronic devices , and plans to reduce TDDI chip shipments for mobile phones.
