About SARA-R520-02B LTE-M/NB-IoT module:

The u-blox SARA-R52 LTE-M/NB-IoT module is a second-generation SARA-R5 module based on u-blox's UBX-R52 cellular chipset and u-blox M10 GNSS receiver chip. The module supports LTE Cat M1 and LTE Cat NB2 technologies and is based on comprehensive 3GPP Rel.14 and Rel.15 related iot application features, including improvements in power consumption, coverage, data rate and mobility. With the integrated uCPU, users can run applications on the UBX-R52 chipset, thus eliminating the need for an external MCU. These modules provide advanced security thanks to secure start-up, renewal and production implementation. Support for MQTT Anywhere and MQTT Flex communication services reduces data overhead, over-the-air transfer time and power consumption. SARA-R52 is compliant with the AWS IoT kernel standard and Microsoft Azure certification.

On SARA-R520, SpotNow provides location information (a cost-optimized location function that runs directly on the UBX-R52 chipset, without the need for a dedicated internal or external GNSS receiver). SpotNow uses a power-optimized assisted GPS receiver solution for occasional use cases where tracking is required.
