Diodes Corporation (Nasdaq: DIOD) announced the expansion of its popular DML30xx line of smart load switches. Four new products were introduced: The DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS, DML3011ALFDS, and DML3012LDC enable high-current (10.5A to 15A) Power Domain switching control for 0.5V to 20V power rails. With a range of embedded capabilities, these devices can efficiently address the needs of microcontrollers, graphics cards, ASics, FPgas, and memory chip power supplies. These devices are ideal for meeting the power management needs of servers, computing hardware, network infrastructure, gateways, solid-state drives, laptops, tablets, industrial devices, hot-swappable devices, and peripheral ports.

This series of switches adopts a Chip-on-Chip structure, stacking the controller chips of each device ON a low RDS(ON) N-channel power MOSFET, occupying a small area and improving power density. The large-area heat sink at the bottom of the device greatly improves the heat dissipation efficiency, reduces the operating temperature, and improves reliability. Thanks to the device's on-state current of less than 150mA (typical) and standby mode current of only 0.1mA (typical), power consumption can be reduced to extremely low levels.

This series of load switches is highly integrated in terms of function, significantly reducing the external circuit requirements, that is, reducing the number of components, reducing the PCB area, and speeding up the time to market. This family of devices offers a full range of protection and monitoring options to maintain system reliability and significantly increase uptime. Designers can choose the right combination of functions according to product application requirements. Selectable features include short circuit and overcurrent protection, undervoltage lock, good power signal and soft start to limit inrush current to an acceptable range. In addition, all four devices have a fast discharge function to ensure control rail power failure and overheat shutdown protection.

The DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS and DML3011ALFDS are packaged in V-DFN2020-8 (2mm x 2mm) and are ordered in 3,000 units. The DML3012LDC comes in a V-DFN3030-12 (3mm x 3mm) package and is ordered in 3,000 units.
