Realtek RTL8710 as a complete WiFi solution, can run independently, can also be used as a slave equipped with other host MCU operation. The RTL8710 can be added to any microcontroller-based design when tasked with wireless Internet access as a WiFi adapter, with easy connectivity via the SPI/SSDIO interface or I2C/UART port. The power of on-chip processing and storage allows for the integration of sensors and other application-specific devices via GPIO ports, enabling minimal up-front development and running with minimal system resources.
The Realtek RTL8710 CPU runs at 166MHz and is packaged in a QFN-48 (6x6mm) package with 42K of available memory. the Realtek RTL8710 is small in size and helps developers to reduce development costs with its built-in 1MB of flash. the Realtek RTL8710 GPIO has a maximum of 21 pins, while the I2C maximum is 21 pins. The Realtek RTL8710 GPIO has a maximum of 21 pins, while the I2C has a maximum of 3 pins, up to 2 PCMs, and up to 4 PWMs, and supports 2 high-speed UARTs and 1 low-speed UART. In terms of data throughput, the Realtek RTL8710 has a maximum count rate of 150 Mbps in 802.11n network mode.
In terms of market application, Realtek RTL8710 can be used in smart home, home automation, industrial wireless control, sensor network, wearable electronics, wireless location-aware devices, secure ID tags, and wireless positioning system signals.
