HCT8xxxxEAL Series Transformers - a highly reliable, compact solution offering reinforced insulation up to 800 V and basic insulation up to 1000 V.

Bourns® introduces the second generation HCT8xxxxEAL series of high clearance/creepage distance isolated power transformers. These AEC-Q200 compliant automotive grade push-pull high voltage isolation transformers offer a highly reliable, compact solution that provides enhanced insulation at operating volttimes up to 800 V and basic insulation at operating volttimes up to 1000 V. By providing a single reinforced insulation layer to protect against hazardous voltage, the HCT8xxxxEAL series enables designers to better achieve their safety and reliability goals over competing isolation transformers with only functional insulation. The advanced features of the series make it ideal for isolation applications in automotive battery management systems (BMS), RS-485, CAN interfaces, digital input modules, and RS-232 isolation designs.

Bourns® 's latest high voltage isolation transformers feature 3.3V or 5V inputs to a variety of output voltage configurations (up to 350 mA in different turn ratio configurations). The HCT8xxxxEAL series is manufactured online in fully automated production to maximize equipment quality and reliability. The series uses Bourns' unique encapsulation molding technology and uses cost-effective FIW lines to achieve superior efficiency. In addition to the enhanced isolation with a minimum clearance/creepage distance of 8 mm, which provides a higher level of high voltage hazard isolation, it also complies with IEC 62368-1 and IEC 61558-1 standards. Bourns developed these new transformers to complement isolated power supplies for Texas Instruments SN6501 and SN6505 transformer drivers.

The Bourns® HCT8xxxxEAL series is now available and all series are RoHS* compliant.
