According to the latest data from industry analyst IDC, the global wearable device market hit a new high in the fourth quarter of 2021, with shipments reaching 171 million units and device trackers growing 10.8% over the same period last year.
IDC data shows that new products and demand for health and fitness tracking products, and hearables have stabilized the market's growth momentum. Full-year shipments in 2021 will be 533.6 million units, an increase of 20.0% over 2020. Wearables were once again the leading category, with shipments growing 9.6% in the quarter and accounting for nearly two-thirds of the overall wearables market.
Among them, Apple accounted for 34.9% of the wearable market in the quarter, maintaining the first position. Apple's growth was fueled by the launch of the Series 7 watch and the launch of AirPods 3 after a delay from the third quarter of 2021 to the fourth quarter.
