Responding to consumer demand for intelligent cockpits, Avnet, an Infineon distributor, has leveraged its forward-looking technology strategy to launch a smart cockpit solution. This solution, based on the Qualcomm SA8295 core board, incorporates Infineon's automotive-grade Wi-Fi 6/6E & Bluetooth dual-chipset and the Infineon TRAVEO™ T2G automotive-grade MCU, redefining the possibilities for in-vehicle spaces.
From ‘Single Functionality’ to ‘Full-Scene Interaction’
Traditional automotive cockpits relied primarily on mechanical controls, offering limited functionality. In contrast, the intelligent cockpit integrates wireless communication, AI computing power, and multimodal interaction technologies, transforming the vehicle interior into a digital mobile terminal that combines smart entertainment, real-time navigation, and efficient communication.
At the core of Avnet's cockpit solution lies Infineon's CYT4BB series within the TRAVEO™ T2G automotive-grade MCU family. This integrates a 250MHz Cortex-M7 core alongside a dedicated Cortex-M0+ coprocessor for cryptographic processing. Coupled with an I/D cache mechanism, it efficiently handles complex tasks such as entertainment systems, voice interaction, and cybersecurity.
Storage Configuration
The MCU incorporates Infineon's proprietary MIRRORBIT™ technology with 4MB NOR Flash main memory (S25FL512S Quad SPI), 256KB Work Flash, and 768KB SRAM, providing ample storage for multitasking. Furthermore, its wide voltage design (2.7V-5.5V) ensures stable operation within demanding automotive environments.
Interface Expansion Capabilities
The CYT4BB supports extensive peripheral interfaces including 8-channel CAN FD, 11-channel SCB, and 16-channel LIN-UART. It also integrates an eMMC controller, SMIF interface, and 10/100 Ethernet controller to meet diverse in-vehicle communication requirements.
Wireless Connectivity
Avnet's cockpit solution incorporates the Infineon AIROC™ CYW89570XR module, supporting 2x2+2x2 RSDB technology to enable dual-band/ tri-band operation. It is compatible with the IEEE 802.11ax standard for Wi-Fi 6/6E protocols, while also integrating Bluetooth® and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 6.0 technology, supporting LE-Audio low-power audio transmission.
For CAN bus communication,
the solution employs the TLE9255WLC CAN transceiver. Housed in a miniature TSON-14 package, it supports CAN Partial Network (CAN PN) functionality and the CAN FD high-speed communication protocol, achieving maximum data transfer rates of up to 2Mbit/s.
Furthermore, this transceiver incorporates wake-up frame detection for CAN FD tolerance mode, effectively enhancing system responsiveness and reliability.
To ensure stable operation of the intelligent cockpit system, the solution employs automotive-grade power products such as Infineon's SBC (TLE9273QX) and PMIC to establish a highly reliable power supply system. The integrated USB-C PD controller supports rapid charging up to 100W, meeting mobile device charging requirements. Furthermore, for data storage, the solution employs the S25FL512S Quad SPI (QSPI) NOR Flash memory based on proprietary MIRRORBIT™ technology. This product holds AEC-Q100 automotive certification and operates at temperatures up to +125°C, ensuring stable and reliable data storage under extreme temperatures or complex electromagnetic environments.
