On 2 September, NOVOSENSE formally launched the NSUC1800 – an ultrasonic radar probe chip (Slave) built upon a wholly domestic supply chain and compatible with the standard DSI3 protocol. This chip delivers enhanced precision and reliability for perception capabilities in intelligent driving scenarios such as Assisted Parking (UPA), Automated Parking (APA), and Valet Parking (AVP). Having achieved functional safety and automotive certification, this chip accelerates the mass production and deployment of domestically developed ultrasonic radar systems.
Domestically Sourced Supply Chain + DSI3 Compatibility: Cross-Brand Interoperability for Master-Slave Devices
The NSUC1800 facilitates cross-brand interoperability between master and slave devices through a system solution that fully supports the DSI3 bus communication protocol, shortening validation cycles and accelerating project implementation. Simultaneously, the product achieves full domesticisation across the entire chain—from chip design and wafer production to testing and packaging—enabling customers to balance delivery timelines and cost control when selecting Slave and Master components, thereby building a more resilient domestic supply chain.
Comprehensive Enhancement in Encoding and Detection Performance
The NSUC1800 complies with the AK2 ultrasonic radar protocol standard, covering all scenarios including UPA, APA, and AVP. Its arbitrarily configurable frequency point encoding supports multiple Chirp and FSK+Chirp schemes, significantly enhancing scanning speed and anti-interference capabilities. It completes bumper scanning within two cycles.
NSUC1800 Coding Method Examples
Regarding ranging performance, hardware gain settings combined with an optimised NFD algorithm precisely identify close-range events, compressing the near-field blind spot to within 10 cm. The chip's receive path features 18-bit resolution and low-noise characteristics, enabling extended long-range detection up to 6–7 m, providing reliable data support for low-speed AEB systems.
Functional Safety and Automotive Certification
The NSUC1800 holds ISO 26262 ASIL B functional safety certification and AEC-Q100 automotive qualification. It operates within -40°C to 105°C and incorporates multiple voltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature diagnostics. The product utilises a QFN20 (4mm × 4mm) package, integrating a Cortex-M3 MCU and multiple memory types. The MCU operates at a 44MHz clock frequency, providing up to 32kB of non-volatile memory (nvm) and 10kB of on-chip SRAM. This offers ample scalability for algorithms such as data compression, further reducing system bill-of-materials (BOM) costs.

Market Prospects for Ultrasonic Sensors
With the accelerated adoption of L2+ ADAS across mid-to-high-end and mass-market vehicles, AK2 ultrasonic radar is rapidly penetrating low-speed scenarios such as parking. Taking a mid-size SUV as an example, all 12 ultrasonic sensors on the vehicle can be equipped with the NSUC1800 chip. Supported by such core components, intelligent driving systems are forming a market space valued at tens of billions.

NOVOSENSE will continue leveraging its expertise in SoC and system-level design to propel domestic ultrasonic radar solutions from ‘single-point substitution’ towards ‘system leadership’, providing reliable assurance for perception and connectivity upgrades in intelligent driving.
