Global microelectronics engineering company Melexis announced the official release of the latest upgraded magnetic point collection model of the three-wire Hall effect latch MLX92211 series, which is specifically designed for horizontal magnetic position detection and features outstanding electrostatic protection (ESD) capabilities and high output current limiting. With the advantages of high integration and high cost performance, this product helps promote the miniaturization of motors, especially suitable for application scenarios of compact automotive motors such as seat adjustment motors, sunroof drive systems and electronic expansion valves.
The current automotive industry has an increasing demand for smaller and thinner motor modules, while maintaining robustness and diagnostic functions. This demand is particularly evident in seat adjusters - multiple motors need to be integrated into a compact component, and it is also necessary to ensure that the seat is adjustable, comfortable to ride, and meets strict safety standards. Automobile manufacturers have long been under multiple pressures: they need to maximize cabin space and reduce vehicle weight, continuously enhance in-car functions, and support automated production. The MLX92211 IMC Hall sensor chip precisely addresses the above challenges through innovative magnetic point aggregation (IMC) technology: Its surface mount (SMD) TSOT-3L package supports horizontal magnetic induction, has no through-hole component requirements, and is highly compatible with modern automated assembly processes. This innovation not only significantly reduces the motor height and enhances the flexibility of packaging, but also optimizes the manufacturing process, bringing multi-dimensional advantages to the design.
Melexis' newly launched MLX92211 magnetic point collection model is based on the mature MLX92211 platform and offers an optimized horizontal direction sensing solution. Its single-chip package integrates a wide-voltage regulator (operating range of 2.7-24V), a Hall sensor chip with advanced offset elimination technology, and an open-drain output driver chip. Its core-enhanced offset elimination system is not affected by temperature and stress, achieving rapid, accurate and stable signal processing. The specially configured negative temperature coefficient can even counteract the high-temperature demagnetization effect of the magnet.
This latch-locked sensor chip supports both three-wire and two-wire configurations (with an external resistor required), and its 30mA current limit fully meets the requirements of application scenarios such as seat motors (such applications typically require a continuous current of 25mA). Combining 8kV powerful electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, an automatic output shutdown mechanism with self-recovery function, and ASIL A functional safety level certification, the MLX92211 magnetic point collection model fully meets the reliable standards of modern automotive applications.
