DP83869HMRGZR Device Description

The DP83869HM device is a robust, full-featured Gigabit Physical Layer (PHY) transceiver with an integrated PMD sublayer supporting 10BASE-Te, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T Ethernet protocols.The DP83869 also supports 1000BASE-X and 100BASE-FX fibre protocols.The DP83869HM is optimized for ESD protection. The DP83869HM is optimised to provide ESD protection exceeding the 8kV IEC 61000-4-2 standard (direct contact). The device connects to the MAC layer via Simplified GMII (RGMII) and SGMII. In 100M mode, the device allows designers to use MII for low latency, and the programmable integrated termination impedance on the RGMII/MII helps reduce the system BOM.


The DP83869HM supports media conversion in unmanaged mode. In this mode, the DP83869HM can run 1000BASE-X to 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-FX to 100BASE-TX conversions.


The DP83869HM also supports bridged conversions from RGMII to SGMII and from SGMII to RGMII.The DP83869HM is TSN compliant for low latency.


The DP83869HM can also generate IEEE 1588 Synchronous Frame Detection indications for the MAC. This reduces jitter in time synchronisation and helps the system address asymmetric delays in packet transmission and reception.


A block diagram of a standard Ethernet system is shown on the first page. Designers can also use the DP83869 in media converter mode, RGMII to SGMII bridge applications, and SGMII-RGMII bridge applications.
