The automotive electronic and electrical architecture is accelerating its transition from a distributed to a domain-controlled centralised architecture, presenting the following key challenges for system design:
• System integration: With the number of functions continuing to increase, high-integration solutions are needed to reduce the number of peripheral devices and optimise PCB space layout.
• Power consumption management: The demand for low-power standby, fast wake-up, and multi-mode energy consumption control is increasing, making it more difficult to achieve a design balance.
• Bus system design: The widespread adoption of multi-bus architectures such as CAN FD and LIN necessitates balancing high-speed transmission, low interference performance, and network wake-up mechanisms to ensure communication reliability and vehicle power consumption levels.
Novosense's newly launched NSR926X series of automotive-grade SBC system-level chips integrate three low-dropout regulators (LDOs), four high-side drivers (HSS), LIN transceivers, and high-speed CAN transceivers with partial networking (PN) functionality. It adopts a multi-in-one platform-level design to fully meet the integrated requirements of power supply, communication, and drive functions for intelligent vehicle control modules, enabling efficient upgrades for next-generation automotive electronic architectures!
Package and Selection
The NSR926X adopts a 7mm×7mm QFN-48 package with a Wettable Flank structure, supporting AOI inspection, and complies with AEC-Q100 Grade 1 automotive certification. It can be widely applied in automotive electronic systems such as body control modules (BCM), tailgate control units, steering system modules, and gear selection modules.
NSR926X Series Product Selection Table
Product Highlights
Integrated three LDO outputs to meet multi-voltage domain power supply requirements
LDO1: Main regulated output, providing 5V/250mA (NSR926X) or 3.3V/250mA (NSR926XV33), suitable for MCU power supply;
LDO2: Auxiliary regulated output, 5V/100mA, with external use protection functionality;
LDO3: Configurable voltage output, supporting 5V or 3.3V (NSR926X), 3.3V or 1.8V (NSR926XV33) selection, which can be used for external power supply or shared with LDO1 load when paired with an external PNP transistor.
Integrated four high-side drivers to meet the diverse load control requirements of body systems
HS1, HS2: 3Ω on-resistance, suitable for medium-power loads;
HS3, HS4: 6Ω on-resistance, suitable for light-load control;
The four HS drivers are optimised for applications with large capacitor start-up, balancing start-up performance and short-circuit protection requirements.
Supports CANFD and LIN bus communication, compatible with complex in-vehicle network architectures
CAN transceiver: Supports up to 5 Mbit/s FD communication, compatible with CAN Partial Networking (PN) functionality and CAN FD fault-tolerant mode, compliant with ISO 11898-2:2016 and SAE J2284 standards;
LIN Transceiver: Supports the LIN 2.2 protocol, compatible with ISO 17987-4 and SAE J2602 standards.
Integrated with 7 state machine modes to adapt to various application scenarios
Initialisation Mode - Init Mode;
Normal Operating Mode - Normal Mode;
Low-Power Mode - Stop/Sleep Mode;
Fault Protection Mode - Restart/Fail-safe Mode;
User Debugging Mode - Test Mode.
Integrated intelligent wake-up and system monitoring/fault diagnosis functions
The WK port supports voltage detection and remote wake-up functions, with high-voltage measurement capabilities. Through WK1 and WK2, high-voltage detection and backup measurement mode switching can be achieved;
16-bit SPI interface, supporting flexible configuration and system status monitoring;
Fault output/general-purpose IO: 3 fault outputs, supporting fault status display. FO2/FO3 can be configured as general-purpose IO or wake-up sources;
Integrated fail-safe safety mechanisms, watchdog timer (window mode and timeout mode), interrupt, and reset output functions.
Leveraging its high integration, high reliability, low power consumption, and scalability advantages, the Novosense NSR926X series SBC provides a stable, flexible, and reliable one-stop power and communication support platform for next-generation intelligent automotive electronic systems!
