Overview:

The AD9670BBCZ is an octal ultrasonic AFE with a digital demodulator designed for low cost, low power consumption, small size and ease of use. It has built-in 8-channel variable gain amplifier (VGA), low noise preamplifier (LNA), CW harmonic suppression I/Q demodulator with programmable phase rotation, anti-aliasing filter (AAF), analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and digital demodulator and extractor for processing data and reducing bandwidth.

Each channel has a maximum gain of 52 dB, a fully differential signal path, and an active input preamplifier terminal. Optimized for high dynamic range and low power consumption, the channel is suitable for applications requiring small packages.


The LNA has a single-ended differential gain and can be selected by SPI. Assuming a noise bandwidth (NBW) of 15 MHz and an LNA gain of 21.6 dB, the LNA input signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is 94 dB. In CW Doppler mode, each LNA output drives an I/Q demodulator. Each demodulator has independently programmable phase rotation and 16 phase Settings.


Each channel can be individually entered into power-saving mode to extend battery life for portable applications. Use the standby mode to quickly power on, so as to restart. When operating in CW Doppler mode, VGA, AAF, and ADC all enter power-saving mode. Various features, such as a programmable clock, data alignment, and the generation of programmable digital test codes, are built into the ADC to provide greater device flexibility and lower system costs. Digital test codes include built-in fixed codes and pseudo-random codes, as well as user-defined test codes entered via serial port (SPI).

Input noise voltage: 0.78 nV/√Hz, gain = 21.6dB

Programmable gain: 15.6 dB/17.9 dB/21.6 dB

0.1 dB input compression point: 1.00V p-p/ 0.75V p-p/ 0.45V p-p
