14 July 2025 — NXP Semiconductors N.V. today announced that Xiaomi's new 15S Pro smartphone has adopted NXP's Trimension SR200 to enable contactless public transport payment and smart digital car key functions based on UWB technology. Shenzhen Tong Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ‘Shenzhen Tong’), the operator of Shenzhen's urban transportation card system, has adopted NXP's Trimension SR150 UWB chip in its turnstiles, enabling Xiaomi 15S Pro users to enjoy seamless access when riding the Shenzhen Yunba Line 1. Additionally, the Xiaomi YU7 car also uses NXP's Trimension NCJ29D5 UWB chip, enabling smart car digital key functionality with the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone.

Significance 

Currently, the UWB technology application ecosystem is developing rapidly, with its deployment scope continuously expanding. This technology has not only been implemented in products from major global smartphone manufacturers but has also been widely adopted by automotive manufacturers, covering emerging application scenarios such as public transportation payments. By integrating UWB functionality with Trimension series devices, the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone connects users to this extensive UWB ecosystem, enabling them to access a richer range of experiences and services through a single device, from secure car keys to public transportation payments.

The Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone uses the Trimension SR200 to provide high-precision data on location, distance, angle of arrival, and vehicle speed for accurate positioning. Additionally, the Trimension SR150 installed in Shenzhen Metro's fare gates offers secure ranging and data transmission capabilities, enabling precise user location identification even in crowded environments, allowing users to seamlessly and effortlessly pass through public transportation systems.

Similarly, the Xiaomi YU7 car is equipped with the Trimension NCJ29D5, supporting smart car access control functionality. Users can effortlessly unlock the car doors using a digital key on a UWB-enabled smartphone (including the Xiaomi 15S Pro). Car owners can also easily share digital keys via a smartphone app to grant access permissions to family members, friends, or service personnel. Both the Trimension NCJ29D5 and Trimension SR200 comply with the Digital Key Standard of the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC).

The Trimension product portfolio includes the Trimension SR200, Trimension SR150, and Trimension NCJ29D5, all of which are FiRA-certified to ensure interoperability and security.
