SSDS are crucial for enhancing the user experience and system performance of PCS and client devices. Micron Technology Inc. recently announced the launch of the Micron 2600 NVMe™ SSD, a cost-effective client storage solution specifically designed for original equipment manufacturers (Oems). The 2600 SSD is equipped with the industry's first 9th generation QLC NAND (G9 QLC NAND) applied to SSDS and adopts Micron's innovative Adaptive Write Technology™ (AWT). While taking into account the cost advantage of QLC, Offer outstanding PCIe 4.0 performance. Compared with similar high-performance and cost-effective QLC and TLC SSDS, the Micron 2600 SSD has a sequential write rate increase of up to 63% and a random write rate increase of up to 49%, thus providing demanding client users with an outstanding user experience.

Mark Montierth, Vice President of Micron Enterprise and General Manager of the Mobile and Client Business unit, said: "The Micron 2600 QLC SSD offers superior performance compared to similar high-performance and cost-effective TLC SSDS." Micron has uniquely combined high-performance G9 NAND with innovative adaptive write technology, achieving performance levels that were previously only available on TLC SSDS. Currently, it is undergoing certification from OEM customers. This innovative milestone will promote the popularization of QLC NAND in the commercial field.

Optimized QLC NAND performance

Micron's AWT technology significantly enhances the write performance of QLC NAND through an industry-first multi-layer SLC, TLC and QLC dynamic cache architecture. When continuously writing up to 800GB of data to a 2TB SSD, this technology can achieve a sequential write rate increase of up to 4 times.

The Micron 2Tb G9 QLC NAND adopts an advanced six-plane NAND architecture, achieving a higher degree of parallel processing capability. It can issue more read and write instructions to the NAND simultaneously, thereby enhancing performance. The rate of the 2600 SSD is as high as 3.6GB /s, and it has the fastest NAND I/O rate among the client SSDS that have been shipped so far.

Storage is of vital importance.

Powerful PC storage solutions can enhance the productivity of applications and optimize the user experience. The Micron 2600 SSD reshapes the daily computing experience and significantly enhances the efficiency of frequently used applications.

Performance enhancement: The 2600 SSD significantly boosts data access and read/write speeds, enabling faster startup and shutdown, application launch, and system response times. Shortening the installation time of operating system images not only enhances production efficiency but also enables the IT department to complete the deployment of SSD images for commercial PCS more quickly.

AI PC applications: Storage performance is the key to driving the development of AI applications. The 2600 SSD, with its high-speed read performance, can quickly load AI models and achieve seamless switching between tasks.

User Experience: AWT technology helps ensure that active data is stored in SSDS in a better way, thereby bringing smoother performance to content creation, casual gaming, and daily computing. According to the PCMark® 10 test results, compared with similar high-performance and cost-effective TLC SSDS, the score of the 2600 SSD has increased by up to 44%, and the bandwidth has increased by 43%, fully demonstrating the outstanding user experience it provides.

The Micron 2600 NVMe SSD is now available for global Oems, available in three specifications: 22x30mm, 22x42mm, and 22x80mm, with capacity ranges from 512GB to 2TB. This SSD comes in a variety of smaller form factors, capacity options and a single-sided design, making it particularly suitable for handheld devices, ultra-thin laptops and workstations. For instance, the compact 2TB, 22x30mm model combines an ultra-small size with a large capacity, making it suitable for design scenarios with limited space such as handheld gaming devices.
