Murata Corporation announced that it has developed and begun mass production of the first 0805-inch (2.0×1.25mm) multilayer chip ceramic capacitor (MLCC) with a rated voltage of 50Vdc and a capacitance value of 10µF for the automotive market. The product model is GCM21BE71H106KE02.

With the continuous advancement of autonomous driving technology, the number of on-board systems is increasing day by day, and the demand for high-performance and miniaturized components has also significantly risen. To ensure the stable operation of key modules such as autonomous driving (AD) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the demand for large-capacity capacitors around ics has been continuously rising, which in turn has exacerbated the tightness of circuit board space.

To address this challenge, Murata has developed this new automotive-grade product by applying its independently developed ceramic materials and film technology. Compared with Murata's traditional 10µF/50Vdc/1206 size MLCC, this product reduces the size to 0805 while maintaining the same performance, reducing the board area by approximately 53% and effectively achieving miniaturization. Meanwhile, compared with the traditional product of the same size of 0805, with a rated voltage of 50Vdc and a capacitance value of 4.7µF, the capacitance value of this product has increased by approximately 2.1 times, achieving large capacity.

In addition, this product is suitable for 12V vehicle standard power lines, which helps save circuit board space and reduce the number of capacitors.
