Diodes has launched the industry's first ReDriver™ signal regulator that can achieve a PCI Express® (PCIe®) 6.0 protocol rate (up to 64GT/s) and is backward compatible with PCIe 5.0/4.0/3.0 protocols. PI3EQX64904 is a low-power, high-performance PAM4 linear Driver signal regulator with a rate of up to 64GT/s and four differential channels. The target product applications include AI data centers (storage and servers), workstations, 5G networks, CPU-to-network (PCIe NIC cards) and CPU-to-storage (NVME) interconnections, as well as CPU-to-CPU interconnections in high-performance computing (HPC) clusters.

The PI3EQX64904 ReDriver signal regulator provides optimized linear equalization in the equalizer stage, featuring adjustable low-frequency and high-frequency zeros to enhance the PAM4 signal quality of high-speed PCIe interfaces. This regulator optimizes the performance of various physical media by reducing inter-symbol crosstalk, correcting the known channel loss of the transmitter, and restoring the signal integrity of the receiver. Therefore, this regulator can optimize the eye diagram of the receiver, have the required margin, and achieve reliable PCIe communication with a low bit error rate (BER) at a PAM4 rate of 64GT/s.

PI3EQX64904 meets the requirements of the new Standby (Modern Standby) mode proposed by Microsoft: In the PCIe L.1.2 deep standby mode of the system, the power consumption is less than 5mW. This device can also provide higher linearity and ultra-low jitter characteristics. Linear ReDriver signal regulators are generally used to extend PCB traces, while minimizing costs and power consumption as much as possible, and also reducing latency.
