Recently, TDK Corporation has launched the ADL8030VA series of high-performance inductors specifically designed for power over coaxial cable (PoC) applications. With their high impedance characteristics across a wide frequency range, the new series of components simplify PoC filter designs, achieving the same results that traditionally required two or more inductors with just a single component.

For advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and other automotive electronic components that prioritise space efficiency and reliability, this significantly reduces design complexity and cost. With the ADL8030VA, TDK is once again driving the transformation of mobility towards a more connected and safer future.


In standard configurations, ADAS sensors such as in-vehicle cameras typically require two separate lines: one for power supply connected to the battery and another for signal transmission connected to the electronic control unit (ECU). However, with PoC technology, a single coaxial cable can simultaneously transmit both power and data, significantly simplifying the wiring harness structure and reducing costs.


The ADL8030VA series is compact, measuring just 7.8 x 2.7 x 2.7 mm (L x W x H), with an inductance range of 10 µH to 100 µH, a maximum rated current of up to 0.82 A, and robust performance across a wide temperature range of -55°C to +155°C. For models with inductance ≤ 22 µH, the low DC resistance < 0.5 Ω minimises power consumption and enhances overall efficiency. Additionally, the new component features a compact design, including a ferrite core, enameled copper wire welded to the terminals, and flame-retardant moulding, ensuring high mechanical structural stability and compliance with AEC-Q200 quality standards, thereby guaranteeing durability in harsh automotive environments.
