Product Description of ADXL312WACPZ

The ADXL312WACPZ is a compact, thin, low-power 3-axis accelerometer with high-resolution (13-bit) measurements up to ±12 g. The digital output data format is 16-bit. The digital output data format is 16-bit binary and can be accessed via a serial port interface (SPI) (3-wire or 4-wire) or an I2C digital interface.


Ideally suited for car alarm or black box applications, the ADXL312WACPZ measures static gravitational acceleration in tilt-sensing applications, as well as dynamic acceleration due to motion or shock.The ADXL312WACPZ's high resolution (2.9 mg/LSB) resolves tilt angle changes as small as 0.25°. The built-in FIFO allows for resolution down to 0.05° of inclination using oversampling techniques.


The ADXL312WACPZ offers a variety of special sensing capabilities. Active and inactive sensing detects the presence of motion and whether acceleration in any axis exceeds a user-set level. These functions can be mapped to interrupt output pins. An integrated 32-level FIFO can be used to store data to minimise host processor intervention.


The ADXL312WACPZ's low-power mode enables intelligent motion-based power management with threshold sensing and active acceleration measurement at very low power consumption.


The ADXL312WACPZ is available in a small, thin 5 mm × 5 mm × 1.45 mm 32-lead LFCSP package.

Motion/non-motion detection: detects if the acceleration on any axis exceeds a user-set threshold value

Free-fall detection: for applications such as drop protection

These functions can be flexibly mapped to two interrupt output pins, greatly reducing the burden on the main processor.
