TCAN1043ADRQ1 Device Description

The TCAN1043A-Q1 is a high-speed controller area network (CAN) transceiver that meets the physical layer requirements of the ISO 11898-2:2016 high-speed CAN specification. The device supports legacy CAN and CAN FD at data rates up to 8 megabits per second (Mbps) (TCAN1043A-Q1) or 5 Mbps (TCAN1043AT-Q1).


The TCAN1043A-Q1 can selectively enable various power sources that may be present on the system via the INH output pin, thereby reducing battery current consumption at the overall system level. This allows power to be delivered to all system components except TCAN1043A-Q1 while the CAN bus is being monitored in low-current sleep mode. When a wake-up event is detected, the TCAN1043A-Q1 boots the system by driving INH high.


The TCAN1043A-Q1 has a SWE timer that safely transitions from standby mode to sleep mode after 4 minutes of inactivity (t INACTIVE). This feature also ensures that the device will transition to a low-power sleep mode if the MCU fails to transition the device to normal mode.

• Supports local wake-up via WAKE pin

• Sleep Wake Error (SWE) timer safely transitions the system from standby mode to sleep mode in the event of a system power failure or software failure.

- Supports long power-up times

• Defined behaviour when not powered on

- Bus and IO terminations are high impedance (no load on the running bus or application)

• Protection features:

- ±58V CAN bus fault tolerance

- Supports load dropping on VSUP

- IEC ESD protection

- Undervoltage protection

- Thermal shutdown protection

- TXD dominant state timeout (TXD DTO)

• Enhanced automatic optical inspection (AOI) capability in 14-pin leaded (SOT and SOIC) packages with wettable sides and in a leadless (VSON) package
