VeriSilicon has launched a brand-new ultra-low power graphics processing unit (GPU) IP - GCNano3DVG. This IP features 3D and 2.5D graphic rendering capabilities, achieving an outstanding balance between visual effects and power efficiency. It is specifically designed for wearable devices and other compact battery-powered devices that require dynamic graphic rendering, such as smartwatches, smart bracelets, AI/AR glasses, etc.
VeriSilicon's GCNano3DVG IP combines an optimized hardware pipeline with a lightweight and configurable software stack, achieving efficient and low-power graphics processing. This IP is equipped with independent rendering pipelines for 3D and 2.5D graphics respectively, which can accelerate the rendering of complex scenes composed of 3D images and vector graphics, and further optimize performance, power consumption and area (PPA) through fine-tuning. In addition, the GCNano3DVG adopts a unified command engine and multiple CPU-GPU synchronization mechanisms, further reducing the system overhead. Coupled with the DDR-free configuration of static random access memory (SRAM) or pseudo-static random access memory (PSRAM) it uses, it provides an efficient and low-power solution for embedded graphics processing.
The GCNano3DVG supports VeriSilicon's GLLite and VGLite application programming interfaces (apis) for 3D and 2.5D/2D graphics rendering. Among them, the GLLite driver is highly configurable, supports the complete OpenGL ES 2.0 specification, and can be optionally integrated into the runtime OpenGL Colored Language (GLSL) compiler, or run in the OpenGL ES 1.1 fixed feature pipeline mode to achieve minimum memory usage. It also supports rendering Khronos' Graphics Library Transfer Format (glTF), which can efficiently handle 3D resources in modern applications. The VGLite driver is compatible with popular vector graphics libraries such as LVGL and NanoVG. Both the GLLite API and the VGLite API can be flexibly and synchronously used in a single application, providing multi-functional and efficient graphics solutions for various embedded application scenarios.
With the continuous expansion of wearable applications, the market demand for immersive user interfaces capable of presenting 3D rendered content keeps rising, while still meeting the requirement of ultra-low power consumption. Dai Weijin, Chief Strategy Officer, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the IP Business Division of VeriSilicon, said, "To meet these requirements, we have designed a GPU architecture that supports hybrid rendering based on the ultra-low power Nano 3D and Nano 2.5D GPU technologies." This innovation enables efficient rendering of mixed 3D and 2.5D content at ultra-low power consumption.
VeriSilicon's GCNano3DVG GPU IP is now available for licensing. For more information or cooperate to deign to inquire, please visit www.verisilicon.com/cn/ContactUs to contact us.
