Edge artificial intelligence is driving the continuous growth of integration and power consumption. Industrial automation and data center applications urgently need advanced power management solutions. Microchip Technology Inc. (Microchip Technology Company) recently released the MCPF1412 high-efficiency fully integrated load point 12A power module. This device is equipped with a 16V input voltage step-down converter and supports I2C and PMBus interfaces.

The MCPF1412 power module is designed to offer outstanding performance and reliability, ensuring efficient power conversion and reducing energy loss. Its compact package size is 5.8mm × 4.9mm × 1.6mm. The innovative pad mesh array (LDA) package can reduce the required circuit board space by more than 40% compared with the traditional discrete solution. This miniaturized design, combined with enhanced reliability and minimized PCB switching and RF noise, makes the MCPF1412 an industry-leading product.


Rudy Jaramillo, vice president of Microchip in charge of analog power interface business, said: "The MCPF1412 is highly compatible with our FPGA and PCIe solutions and is designed to provide a complete solution for Microchip customers." When used in combination with other Microchip devices, this innovative solution can significantly save space by reducing the chip layout.


The MCPF1412M06 is a multifunctional device that offers high flexibility for configuration and system monitoring through I2C and PMBus interfaces. In addition, the module supports independent operation mode without a digital interface. Designers can easily configure the output voltage through a simple resistor divider adjustment (adjustments) and monitor the system with a Power Good output signal.


Other key features of MCPF1412 include multiple diagnostic functions such as over-temperature, overcurrent and overvoltage protection, effectively enhancing performance and reliability. The applicable operating temperature range is from junction temperature (TJ) -40 °C to +125°C. The on-board embedded EEPROM can be used to program the default power-on configuration.
