I. Introduction

The RAA489800ARGNP is a bi-directional lift regulator that provides lift regulation and protection. Renesas' advanced R3™ technology provides high light-load efficiency, fast transient response and seamless DCM/CCM conversion. The RAA489800 takes input power from a variety of DC power supplies up to 23V (e.g., traditional AC/DC adapters (ADP), USB PD ports, travel ADP) and safely converts it to regulated voltages up to 21V.

The RAA489800 also converts a wide range of DC power supply connected to its output (system side) into a regulated voltage at its input (ADP side). This bi-directional buck-boost regulation makes the RAA489800 extremely flexible for applications. In addition to the 4-switch buck-boost configuration, the device also supports 2-switch buck-mode operation. The RAA489800 includes various system operation features such as forward mode enable pins, reverse mode enable pins, programmable soft boot time, and adjustable forward and reverse VOUT. Also has forward and reverse power normal indicators. The protection function includes over current protection, over voltage protection, under voltage protection and over temperature protection.

The RAA489800 communicates serial via SMBus/I2C, allowing many key parameters to be programmed to provide customized solutions. These programming parameters include, but are not limited to: output current limits, input current limits, and output voltage Settings.
