March 2025 - Silicon Labs (also known as ‘VeriSilicon’), a global leader in building a more connected world through secure, intelligent wireless connectivity, today announced that its MG26 family of wireless systems-on-chip (SoCs) is now available through VeriSilicon and its distribution partners. partners. As the industry's most advanced, high-performance Matter and concurrent multi-protocol solution to date, the MG26 SoCs feature twice the flash and RAM capacity of VeriSilicon's other multi-protocol products, advanced artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) processing, and best-in-class security to enable developers to future-proof their Matter applications.
With the MG26, we are not only setting a new standard for multi-protocol wireless performance for battery-powered, low-power smart home-based applications, but we are also redefining the future possibilities of IoT connectivity with Matter,’ said Jacob Alamat, senior vice president of the Home & Living Business Unit at VeriSilicon. This family of products enables developers to create smarter, safer and more powerful solutions in an increasingly connected world.’
CoreTech further enhances security through its Custom Part Manufacturing Service (CPMS) and is the only Matter SoC product manufacturer to support custom orders from customers using their own Matter Device Authentication Certificate (DAC). By using CoreTech's Matter-enabled SoCs, product launches can be simplified and accelerated while preventing intellectual property (IP) theft and counterfeiting.
MG26 SoC Supports Advanced IoT Applications and Matter
The MG26 SoC greatly facilitates the adoption of the Matter protocol with its concurrent multi-protocol capabilities, enabling the integration of a wide range of smart home and building devices, such as LED lighting, switches, sensors and door locks, into both Matter and Zigbee networks. This allows users to create automation applications and routines that encompass more devices in different ecosystems.
In addition, the MG26 uses its embedded accelerators to enable AI/ML capabilities, further enhancing performance in critical tasks such as predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, keyword detection, vision, and increasingly, cross-IoT applications. To help developers build devices capable of running advanced IoT applications, the MG26 family offers the following features:
● Enables higher computing power with a multi-core ARM® Cortex®-M33 CPU and provides dedicated cores for the RF and security subsystems, helping to free up the main core for customer applications.
● Doubled flash, RAM and GPIO capacity compared to the MG24 family of products to support IoT device makers in developing advanced edge applications that utilise larger, more accurate machine learning models to improve performance. The MG26 also supports processing of larger machine learning workloads such as higher resolution vision.
● Embedded AI/ML hardware acceleration enables machine learning algorithms to be processed up to 8x faster with only 1/6th of the power consumption compared to running the same application on a CPU. CoreTech's new AI/ML Developer's Guide provides an easy way for developers to get started building new models to take advantage of this processing power.
● Best-in-class security through CoreTech Secure Vault™ technology and ARM TrustZone technology, meeting all Matter security requirements.
o Utilising CoreTech's customised component manufacturing services, the MG26 Series can also be programmed with customer's Matter Device Authentication Certificates (DACs), security keys and other functionality on-demand during the manufacturing process, further enhancing its resilience to vulnerabilities.
o Secure over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates combined with secure boot prevents the installation of malware and allows for vulnerability patching.
● Concurrent multi-protocols are able to run Zigbee and Matter over Thread at the same time, simplifying SKU management for product manufacturers and providing ease of use for end users.
● Industry-leading RF performance and energy efficiency: up to +19.5 dBm transmit power along with world-leading receiver sensitivity and ultra-low transmit, receive, and sleep currents enable battery-powered IoT devices with ultra-long lifespan and superior wireless performance.
Setting the Industry Standard for Designs Using the Matter Protocol
Consumers want Matter devices that are secure, interoperable and easy to use. Austrian smart lock manufacturer Nuki, which will enter the U.S. market in 2025, has selected CoreTech as its Matter standard partner for its latest smart locks for reliable and efficient connectivity. This is Nuki's first electronic lock that is compatible not only with European door locks, but also with U.S. latches. CoreTech's Matter-enabled SoC enables Nuki's smart locks to run for long periods of time without frequent battery changes, to use Matter to support a variety of wireless protocols, and to ensure seamless connectivity to the home network.
CoreTech's Matter-enabled SoCs enable us to bring to market ultra-compact, battery-powered devices that support multiple communication protocols in parallel,’ said Jürgen Pansy, co-founder and chief innovation officer of Nuki. Our latest innovation, the award-winning smart lock, saves energy and space in the door lock design by using CoreTech's hardware to support Matter via Thread, and enables the integration of additional connectivity such as Bluetooth LE (low power) and Wi-Fi.’
CoreTech Leads Matter on the Path to Total Penetration
Since its product launch in 2024, the MG26 has been recognised globally for its impressive features and has won the Best Product of the Show award at Embedded Computing Design, the Product of the Year 2024 award at IoT Evolution World and the AspenCore Global Electronics Achievement Award, among other industry awards.
The Matter ecosystem is expected to see significant growth, driven by new device types, enhanced security and industry collaboration. As a major semiconductor code contributor to the Matter protocol, CoreTech is proud to be a part of the overall popularity of Matter.
