Product Description:
The MAX49921 is a high-precision, unidirectional current detection amplifier (CSA) with an operating input common-mode range of 0 to +70V, but provides input common-mode voltage protection from as low as -42V and as high as +80V to prevent battery backgrounding and high voltage spikes. The MAX49921 is suitable for current monitoring of inductive loads, such as DC motors and solenoid valves, where the common-mode voltage can become negative due to inductive recoil, battery backgrounding, or transient events.
The device has a low input offset of ±0.5µV (typical value) and a low gain error of ±0.05% (typical value), making it ideal for high-precision current measurement.
The MAX49921 has a supply voltage range of +2.7V to +5.5V, with a typical static supply current of 0.7mA. The device is rated in the -40°C to +125°C automotive grade temperature range and is AEC-Q100 certified. The MAX49921 is available in a 2mm x 3mm, 8-pin side wettable TDFN package with 20V/V and 50V/V gain options.
