Product introduction

The NCP1342 is a highly integrated quasi-resonant flyback controller for the design of high-performance off-line power converters. The device has an integrated active X2 capacitor discharge capability that enables no-load power consumption of less than 30 MW.


The NCP1342 features a proprietary valley locking circuit to ensure stable valley switching. The system works down to the sixth trough and switches to frequency reentry mode to reduce switching losses. With further load reduction, the NCP1342 enters Quiet−Skip mode to manage power transfer while minimizing noise.


To ensure light load performance for the high frequency design, the NCP1342 integrates fast frequency return-back and minimum peak current modulation to quickly reduce the switching frequency. To help ensure the durability of the converter, the NCP1342 implements several key protection features such as internal power failure detection, non-dissipative overpower protection (OPP), which provides a constant maximum output power regardless of the input voltage, latch overvoltage via a dedicated pin, and NTC-ready overtemperature protection. The line removal detection function is used to safely discharge the X2 capacitor when the AC line is removed.

• Reduces frequency jitter of EMI features

• Overload protection based on lockout or auto-restore timers

• Adjustable overpower Protection (OPP)

• Adjustable maximum frequency clamp

•FAULT pin for severe fault conditions, NTC compatible with OTP

•4 ms soft start timer
