Device introduction

The TCAN1162-Q1 is a high Speed Controller Local Area network (CAN) transceiver that meets the physical layer requirements of the ISO 11898-2:2015 High Speed CAN specification. The TCAN1162-Q1 supports traditional CAN and CAN FD networks with data rates up to 8 megabits per second (Mbps).

The transceiver integrates an LDO with a wide input operating voltage range to provide 5V voltage to the CAN transceiver, eliminating the need for 5V voltage from an external voltage source.

The TCAN1162-Q1 selectively enables the various power sources that may be present on the node through the INH output pin, thereby reducing battery current consumption at the overall system level. This allows power to be transmitted to all system elements except the TCAN1162-Q1 in ultra-low current sleep mode, while the device remains in a low power state and monitors the CAN bus. When an wake event is detected, TCAN1162-Q1 starts the node by driving the INH output to a high level.
