On May 27, IDC released the 2022 V1 version of IDC's Worldwide Augmented and Virtual Reality Spending Guide. According to the latest forecast data, the total global AR/VR investment scale in 2021 is close to 14.67 billion US dollars, and is expected to increase to 74.73 billion US dollars in 2026, with a five-year compound growth rate (CAGR) of 38.5%. Among them, the five-year CAGR of the Chinese market is expected to reach 43.8%, ranking first in the world in terms of growth rate.
The report pointed out that AR spending will grow rapidly with a five-year CAGR of 49.0%, and VR spending will maintain a steady growth with a five-year CAGR of 41.5%. VR technology will remain a major area of focus for users during the five-year forecast period of 2022-2026, and will attract around 70% of AR/VR market-related investments.
The data shows that the hardware market will grow steadily at a compound growth rate of 47.8% during the five-year forecast period, and will continue to account for more than half of China's AR/VR market spending share.
In terms of application scenarios, IDC predicts that AR training, industrial maintenance, and AR labs and field practice will become mainstream application scenarios in the AR market in 2026, accounting for about 30.1% of China's AR market investment; in 2026, VR games, VR training and VR Collaboration is expected to become the main application scenario of VR in China, with the three together accounting for more than 50%.
