Product Overview:

The MCP23017T-E/SO I/O extender has a 16-bit universal parallel bi-directional I/O port and a high-speed I2C interface. These I/O extenders have three hardware address pins (connected to up to eight devices on the bus) and configurable interrupt output pins. Hardware pins are used to determine device addresses. The MCP23x17 expander contains multiple 8-bit configuration registers for input, output, and polarity selection. These MCP23x17 I/O extenders have two interrupt pins (INTA and INTB). Either port causes an interrupt and it will activate.
