The IPS2550DE1R Inductive Position Sensor is a sensor IC that meets the AEC-Q100 Class 0 automotive standard and is capable of detecting the absolute position of a rotor in the form of a sine/cosine signal. The IC utilises the physical principle of the eddy current effect to detect the position of a metal target moving above a set of coils consisting of a transmitter coil and two receiver coils. The output interface can be configured as a single-ended output to improve the cost-effectiveness of the system, or as a differential output for better suppression of common mode interference. In automotive applications, where functional safety is most critical, the IPS2550 can be used for high-speed motor commutation up to an electrical angle of 600krpm.
