The ATMEGA2561-16AU 8-bit microcontroller provides a highly flexible and cost effective solution for many embedded control applications.The ATMEGA2561-16AU 8-bit microcontroller AVR architecture supports a comprehensive range of program and system development tools, including a C compiler, macro assembler, program debugger/simulator, in-circuit emulator and evaluation kit.

The ATMEGA2561-16AU features 256KB of in-system programmable Flash memory (with read/write capability), 4KB EEPROM, 8KB SRAM and 86 general purpose I/O lines. In addition, the device features 32 general-purpose working registers, a real-time counter, six flexible timer/counters (with compare mode), PWM, four USARTs, a byte-oriented two-wire serial interface, a 16-channel 10-bit analog-to-digital converter, and a JTAG interface for on-chip debugging.

The ATMEGA2561-16AU operates over a voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V and has a flux of 16 MIPS at 16 MHz. The device can execute powerful instructions in a single clock cycle and obtain a flux close to 1 MIPS/MHz, while balancing power consumption and processing speed.
