On July 18, 2018, Xilinx, the world's largest programmable chip (FPGA) manufacturer, announced the acquisition of Shenjian Technology, a star startup in China's AI chip field. The AI chip start-up, dubbed "China's Nvidia," will continue to operate from its Beijing office. The transaction amount and details have not been disclosed.
On October 27, 2020, Xilinx was acquired by AMD for $35 billion, and the transaction is expected to close by the end of 2021.
